This course is part of the Fit and Healthy Kids series. The Fit and Healthy Kids Series on-demand classes consist of 2-hour of online course work at your own pace. A team of University of Nebraska Extension Professionals offers the Fit and Healthy Kids series on-demand programming to help increase the use of best practices in caring for and educating young children across the state.
Brief Description of Training: What do all of those words on food packages mean? How do I tell if a food is a whole grain? Join us to answer these mysterious questions and more! Learn about the many benefits of whole grains along with ideas for preparing and serving whole-grain foods children will love.
As a result of this training participants will:
1. Identify the foods in the grain group along with the health benefits of grains.2. Identify which foods meet CACFP’s criteria as whole grain-rich.
3. Understand how to increase the number of whole grains served to children at meal and snack time.
