Session 2: Weather Extremes & Extension Responses - Feb. 11-13, 2020 in Omaha, NE

- Learn how to help facilitate community and individual planning for and response to extreme weather events (e.g., drought and flooding)
- Discuss and be able to explain the role irrigation (and drainage) has on farm business, risk management, rural economy, and environmental conditions
- Understand the potential impact(s) input management regulations may have on individuals and communities, and how best to engage affected stakeholders

- Explain the major water quality and quantity challenges in agricultural landscapes and their impact in North Central Region states
- Understand how using a systems approach to improving water quality and quantity rather than individual functions or tasks might lead to higher quality outcomes
- Explore recent litigation and policy tools and their impact on the ag-water system
- Discuss farmer and agriculture industry engagement in water quality improvement in Iowa
- Explore water quality extension programs and lessons learned
- Explain the major water quality and quantity challenges in agricultural landscapes and their impact in North Central Region states
