People own livestock or companion animals for added value to their lives or for monetary gain through sale of milk, meat, fiber, or offspring; but they often fail to provide the correct type of shelter and adequate amount of shelter for the climate in which they reside especially in the winter months. Sometimes this is from ignorance of not owning animals previously, other times it's from not having the proper facilitates to house animals due to financial constraints.
